In February’s webinar, the SGP Business Development team walked through the federal contracting landscape heading into 2026 – covering shifts in agency procurement priorities, changes to small business program regulations, and practical strategies for contractors looking to grow their federal portfolios. The session drew participants from across SGP’s client network, including Tribal enterprises, small business contractors, and organizations currently navigating their 8(a) program participation.
The conversation centered on three themes: the increasing complexity of multiple-award contract vehicles and how to position for them, the updated SBA guidance on 8(a) joint ventures and mentor-protege structures, and the role of past performance management in building long-term competitive strength. Presenters emphasized that contractors who treat compliance and past performance documentation as proactive functions – rather than reactive ones – consistently outperform peers when it comes to competitive evaluations.
